Moss Dale Tract Phase III Levee Seepage Repair Project

Phase III of the LSAP aims to enhance landside levees along about 8.4 miles of the RD-17 levee system in San Joaquin County, California. The work took place in:

  • Parts of the San Joaquin River east levee

  • Sections of the levee on the north side of Walthall Slough

  • The Dryland levee extends towards South Airport Way to meet Federal and State design guidelines for levees safeguarding urban areas.

The project's goals include constructing seepage berms, setback levees, and slurry cutoff walls where necessary to bolster the levee's ability to resist under-seepage and through-seepage, ensuring seepage exit gradients remain below 0.5 at the water surface elevation during a flood event with a 0.01 annual exceedance probability, and adhering to USACE recommendations for levee vegetation management.
